Though the Morbido Fest has wrapped up I've got one final gem to share from Mexico in the form of Leon Fernandez's Mutatio. While stop motion animation is increasingly an art in decline - not in quality but in the number of practitioners - Mexico is bucking that trend with a wave of impressive young talent coming from south of the border with Guadalajara increasingly looking to be a hub for stop motion.

Fernandez arrived on the scene this year with his short film Mutatio, which premiered at the Morelia festival before moving on to Morbido, where I saw it. It's a fabulous bit of dark fantasy beautifully crafted by a talented young director and you can see the teaser the Morelia festival created for it below.
