Nagarjuna Will Take No Shit In The RAJANNA Trailer

The latest trend in Andhra Pradesh these days seems to be the ultra-violent, ultra-patrotic action film.  Tollywood has a taste for blood that is unrivaled on the Indian subcontinent.  Last year brought the ludicrously violent Simha to the top of the box office charts, and this year it looks like we've got a couple of contenders.  First up is Jagapathi Babu's crazy looking Kshetram, and after that we have this film, Rajanna.

Like most Indian films, pretty much everyone involved in Rajanna has some deep roots in the Indian film industry.  Star Nagarjuna is the son of a famous actor and has been in films since he was a child in 1967.  The writer/director is Vijayendra Prasad, the father of Telugu box-office dynamo S.S. Rajamouli who directed Magadheera. The female lead, Sneha (Twitch readers might recognize her from the lady cop film Bhavani IPS I featured a while back), doesn't have family in the industry as far as I know, but I'm sure that can be rectified.

As usual, I can't find any material outlining the plot online, but it looks like a pretty standard revenge/patriotic violence film in which Nagarjuna plays an anti-hero laying waste to the British Raj. He wields a big fucking machete and plays the hand drum with YOUR BLOOD on his hands.  It is pretty awesome.  There's some whiny little girl running through the trailer and he either avenges her or slays her for being irritating.  Either outcome would be satisfactory. 

Rajanna is scheduled to hit theaters on December 23.
