First Image From Patrik Eklund's FLIMMER (FLICKER)
Sweden's Patrik Eklund is a great favorite here at ScreenAnarchy - a quick search of our archive will turn up a number of posts about his past works - and we have been greatly anticipating the Oscar nominated director's first step into the world of features with Flimmer (Flicker).

Something's bubbling under the surface in the tiny village of Gumby, centring on the struggling telecoms company Unicom, its staff and a militant group of people allergic to electricity. When a power cut strikes the village it triggers off a chain reaction of mishaps, encounters and love affairs.
Eklund is a most unusual sort of director, one who combines a deliciously dry and absurd sense of humor with a keen observational sense of his characters. His people are odd, yes, but strangely real as well and the overall experience is not entirely unlike what we've come to expect from The Coen Brothers in their lighter moments.

Though Flimmer is not yet complete audiences at the Stockholm International Film Festival are getting a peek at a work-in-progress version of the film, a move which has prompted the release of the first still, above. Expect more from this one as the release approaches.
