Watch The US Trailer For Studio Ghibli's THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY
Studio Ghibli's acclaimed The Secret World Of Arrietty - adapted from Mary Norton's The Borrowers - arrives on US shores in February and Disney have just released their official trailer, showing off the American dub.

Residing quietly beneath the floorboards are little people who live undetected in a secret world to be discovered, where the smallest may stand tallest of all. From the legendary Studio Ghibli ("Spirited Away," "Ponyo") comes "The Secret World of Arrietty," an animated adventure based on Mary Norton's acclaimed children's book series "The Borrowers."

the trailer plays up the action / adventure aspect of the story perhaps a little more than the film will actually bear but on the whole is quite good, the dub showing a lot of character and the same level of quality that Disney have generally shown their Ghibli releases. It's at Apple now, so take a look.

Man, that trailer is completely wrong for the movie... The Borrower Arrietty was very somber and quiet. It's probably the most bittersweet of all the ghibli films (of the entertainment batch... Graveyard of the Fireflies doesn't count).

You can count on one hand how many times the characters smiled, if that's any indicator of the type of film they're trying to sell to the "adventure minded kids".

Secunded. There is a sense of upcoming doom in the entire film and there is a strong focus on losing what you have. its saving grace is its beauty, especially in the exploration of the house, but bittersweet is the word here. People wanting a happy happy joy joy time need not apply.
