The Full Trailer For Yam Laranas' THE ROAD Is Creepy As All Hell
Well, hello there ...

When director Yam Laranas first rose to international attention in 2004 it was with his moody and atmospheric horror picture Sigaw. Though seen by only a few by virtue of coming towards the end of the J-horror rush and by being from The Philippines - where most fans were not accustomed to looking for this sort of fare - it was hailed as a significant work of that wave by those who saw it. Laranas is a true artist with light and shadow and though he was working with many familiar tropes in that film he approached them from a fresh angle and ended up with a film that burrowed in deep.

Sigaw landed Laranas the job of directing an English language remake of his own picture - The Echo - since which he has been experimenting with adding different elements to his distinctive style. Patient X, for example, brings an action and creature element while with The Road he steps in to the great outdoors to capture a different sort of dread.

A twelve year old cold case is reopened when three teens are missing in an abandoned road. In the course of the investigation, deeper and gruesome stories of abduction and murders are discovered. After more than two decades, the secrets of the haunted road may finally be revealed.

We ran the first teaser for The Road a while back, much impressed by the visuals and mood of the piece. And now Laranas has released the full trailer for the film, a bit of work that still keeps plot details to a minimum while showing off the pictures gorgeous cinematography and incredibly creepy tone, that tone greatly enhanced by the use of music and sound design from Let The Right One In composer Johan Söderqvist. Laranas is clearly on top form here. Take a look below.
