First Teaser For Malaysian Kung Fu Comedy PETALING STREET WARRIORS Looks Promising
We first reported on James Lee's Petaling Street Warriors back in April, and the outlook was sort of "meh".  Recently, however, the first teaser of the Malaysian action comedy, starring musician Namewee among others, is actually somewhat promising.

The press in Malaysia have it pegged as a Kung Fu Hustle styled period action comedy, and by the looks of this trailer, I'd say that is a pretty solid description. The trailer isn't exactly jam-packed with action, but it is pretty respectable. I'm definitely up for seeing the finished product.  Here's the synopsis, and you can find the trailer below:
Set in Petaling Street in 1908, it tells of a hokkien mee seller (Mark Lee) who finds himself entangled in deadly battles with skilled fighters. Little did he know that he is in possession of a lost treasure map linked to the Qing Dynasty and must refrain himself from consummating his marriage to master the "Virgin Kung Fu" skills to overcome his opponents.
I don't think I've seen more than a small handful of Malaysian films, but this one looks worth seeking out. Petaling Street Warriors is scheduled to hit cinemas on January 12, 2012.
