Exclusive! FUNimation Acquires THE WOMAN KNIGHT OF MIRROR LAKE For North American Distribution
James Marsh recently reviewed the film for ScreenAnarchy and found it to be "an entertaining [film] that packs more punch - both physically and metaphorically - than any of us had any right to expect." Overall, opinion seems to be pretty high on Yau's latest outing, and thankfully, James also assures us that Yau doesn't forget his exploitation past and keeps the action brisk and "includes moments of violence that other, more austere directors may have shied away from." This all sounds promising to me.

Flower Mound, TX (October 26, 2011) - FUNimation® Entertainment today announced it has acquired the home video, digital, mobile, television, and theatrical distribution rights for the live action film, THE WOMAN KNIGHT OF MIRROR LAKE.
This semi-biographical film from director Herman Yau (THE LEGEND IS BORN - IP MAN) stars Yi Huang as the female revolutionist, Qiu Jin. Nicknamed the "Woman Knight of Mirror Lake," Qiu Jin advocated equality between men and women during the late Qing Dynasty, believing a better future for women came under a Western-style government instead of the corrupt Manchu government. Herman Yau's stunning film brings this legendary heroine's skills to the screen as she blazes a path through the world of literature and the military.
FUNimation has partnered with ELEVEN ARTS to bring THE WOMAN KNIGHT OF MIRROR LAKE to the big screen in theaters across the U.S. starting this week as part of the worldwide release of the film. THE WOMAN KNIGHT OF MIRROR LAKE premiered in Hong Kong on October 13th and in Singapore on October 20th. The film will begin its U.S. theatrical run on October 28th in Los Angeles at the Culver Plaza Theatre. The film THE LEGEND IS BORN - IP MAN, will screen simultaneously at the Culver Plaza Theatre.
