CHRONICLE. Found Footage Superheros.
I did not know that this film was in production until I saw this trailer on MTV.com and I have to say that I'm intrigued.
Chronicle mixes together the found footage format with a super hero plot and already websites are calling it the "Cloverfield of superhero movies". Yeah well.
The film, judging from the trailer, revolves around three friends who stumble across something that gives them super human powers. They document their exploits of them goofing around with their new found abilities until one of them accidentally kills someone and that experience apparently turns him in to a super villain.
Chronicles is directed by Josh Trank, who has worked as an editor mostly but has the TV series The Kill Point under his belt as a director. The script is by Max Landis, son of John, who has among other things worked on stuff with his father on Masters of Horrors and Fear Itself. Landis the elder has however nothing to do with this film as some sites are erroneously reporting.
I dug what I saw in the trailer and from the looks of things the film stops using the video camera format at some point and goes straight. Chronicle hits theaters early next year.
