A SERBIAN FILM Due On Limited Edition Blu-ray From Invincible Pictures 10/25
Here we go.  After it's brief theatrical run and appearance on VOD through FlixFling in the US, A Serbian Film is coming to home video on Blu-ray and DVD from independent distributor, Invincible Pictures.  Invincible haven't made a formal announcement of content, runtimes, or extras yet, but they have made listed the Blu-ray as a "Limited Edition" on their own website.

In my previous conversations with Invincible, they told me that their intention was to release their unrated version, with approximately 1 minute cut, on home video.  There is no indication that this has changed, as the promotional artwork seen below indicates an unrated edition.  If that is the packaging as well, I think it looks pretty cool.

I don't think I need to rehash the controversy that has followed the film, you can look that up for your own by following the links below this article.  I will, however, repost Invincible's synopsis if, by some miracle, you've managed to avoid any info about the film:
Milos, a retired porn star, leads a normal family life with his wife Maria and six-year old son Petar in tumultuous Serbia, trying to make ends meet. A sudden call from his former colleague Layla will change everything. Aware of his financial problems, Layla introduces Milos to Vukmir - a mysterious, menacing and politically powerful figure in the pornographic business. A leading role in Vukmir's production will provide financial support to Milos and his family for the rest of their lives. A contract insists on his absolute unawareness of a script they will shoot. From then on, Milos is drawn into a maelstrom of unbelievable cruelty and mayhem devised by his employer, "the director" of his destiny. Vukmir and his cohorts will stop at nothing to complete his vision. In order to escape the living cinematic hell he's put into, and save his family's life, Milos will have to sacrifice everything - his pride, his morality, his sanity, and maybe even his own life.
I have a request in at Invincible for further details, and when I get some answers, I'll post them here as an update, until then, check out the artwork and the link to their store where the pre-order is up.

Wait so they say it's unrated but there is still a minute missing from it?

J HurtadoJuly 30, 2011 4:25 PM

Yes, at least we think so. The unrated version they offered as VOD had a minute cut out. I'm waiting for confirmation

I don't think you're going to get a true unrated cut of the film or "The Festival Cut" as it is known, from anyone in the US. Its just too risky especially for a smaller distributor like Invincible pictures to release for fear of any legal backlash.

Well now, "unrated" isn't synonymous with "uncut" anyway. Any cut of this film that hasn't passed through the hands of a ratings board--or even if it has, has not achieved the blessing of that board--can be considered unrated. I can cut a minute out of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD right now and market the result as an UNRATED! in a public domain DVD.

Is anyone aware of a European dvd that is english subbed and uncut? Perhaps a Russian release or something?

J HurtadoJuly 30, 2011 11:04 PM

Not as of now.

On behalf of true film fans, whether or not they're fans of this particular film but are against censorship, SCREW this butchered, censored B.S. useless releases like this. What a waste of a release. Why don't they just splice in Barney the dinosaur in place of the graphic shots and re-score the film with Backyardigans music while they're at it? F-this distributor. Either go all the way with this or don't release it at all. This film will only cater to a select few, anyways, so it's not like there's much money to gain from pulling this crap. This is complete and utter B.S.
