Alex Tse To Write THE CROW.
Great director, okay writer, weird choice for the lead actor. That's how things now break down on the upcoming big screen relaunch of The Crow, a film now being described as a 'reinvention' of 'the 1994 critically acclaimed, sensation based on the comic book series and comic strip by James O'Barr.' Note that they are specifically referencing the movie in that quote, not the original books.

That Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is now in place to direct with Bradley Cooper starring as Eric Draven has been known for a while. And now they're being joined by writer Alex Tse, whose only previous feature film writing credit comes with Zack Snyder's Watchmen. And who knows, maybe Tse will pull out something good but when the originally writing choice was Nick Cave - who is absolutely perfect for this material - well, Tse's got big shoes to fill.

The killer in this, though, is Cooper. Don't get me wrong, I actually quite like Bradley Cooper in the right material but I've never seen anything from him to suggest that he's even a remotely appropriate choice for the part. I just don't get it. At all. Are they hoping that a swarm of Hangover and A-Team fans are going to come swarming out to see Cooper in The Crow? Because that just isn't going to happen. And the goth kids who make up the core audience for this ... well, if anything they're going to be put out by the presence of Cooper in the lead.  I remain confused.
