First Images From The Set Of James Lee's Kung Fu Comedy PETALING STREET WARRIOR

Busiest filmmaker in Malaysia? Try the busiest in the world. With production recently wrapped on his down and dirty martial arts flick The Collector director James Lee has rolled directly into production on the higher budgeted Petaling Street Warrior, a period set kung fu comedy that is already drawing hopeful comparisons to Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle among the local press. By my count - and my calendar, which may not be entirely accurate - this is the fifth feature to be shot by Lee within the last twelve months, a run that has included horror comedies Sini Ada Hantu and Help! My Girlfriend Is A Vampire, the pure horror of The Claypot Curry Killers, and action picture The Collector. Word is he's got a sixth picture lined up, too, with plans in place to get back to his low budget arthouse roots after this one.

Other than the most general information details are still scarce for this one. Backed by JE Pictures the film stars Singaporean comedian Mark Lee, Malaysia's Yeo Yann Yann and hip hop artist Namewee. The story is set in 1908, in the titular Petaling Street, at the heart of Kuala Lumpur's first Chinatown.

We'll be keeping a close eye on this and will bring more details as they become available but in the meantime you can check the first images from the set below.
