Bad Guys Will Die In THE RETIREMENT OF JOE CORDUROY
Funny how that works. Just days after posting an editorial rant against the wave of 'intentionally bad' exploitation throwbacks - films made that way because, ha ha, the 70s were funny - someone goes and sends in a new example of how to do this right.

And, of course, just days after saying publicly that I would only write about Kickstarter, IndieGoGo and other crowd funded films that I was willing to support myself, this one's on Kickstarter. Time to break out the wallet.

The film is The Retirement Of Joe Corduroy, a twenty minute short from director Mike Nelson. With the initial wave of production funded by a Minnesota art grant Nelson is now looking to scrape together the five grand he needs to finish the last bits of shooting and take it through the post production process.

Joe Corduroy is retiring. He has approached the beginning of the end. After his nephew is put into a coma due to a mindless act of violence, this gentle dentist declares payback on the lowly scum of the streets. In an act of vengeance, Joe scours the streets for unsuspecting criminals to enforce his own form of vigilante justice; a bullet in the back.
Death Wish is an obvious influence here and Nelson is showing a remarkable knack for getting the tone and look right. We've got the official teaser below and you can find more clips from the initial shoot along with a healthy batch of stills over on the film's Kickstarter page.
