The Fish People Attack! Amazing Concept Art For Czech Creature Feature WAR WITH THE NEWTS (VALKA S MLOKY)

I feel that I should preface this by saying that I am always very leery about posting - or even allowing myself to be excited by - concept art. They are, after all, only drawings and transferring still art limited only by the artist's skill and imagination into something that can actually work on screen is a tricky business.

That said, I'm happy to make an exception for upcoming Czech creature picture War With The Newts. For one thing it's based on a very well regarded novel - Valka S Mloky by Karel Capek - so the story should be dead solid. For another it is being developed by the producers of kid-oriented fantasy picture The Last Of Aporver so these are people with some track record. They can get it done.

The story is a dark satire revolving around relationships between humans and a race of deep sea fish people. Educated and trained up by the humans as a supply of cheap labor the fish people rebel to remake the world as they want it. If all goes as planned the producers are targeting a 2013 release date.

As for the artwork, there are ten images in all and you can check them below. While there is a promo reel for the project out there it shows precisely nothing and so I'm including the trailer for Aporver instead so you can get a look at something farther down the line from the same team.
