The Brothers Quay Do Stanislaw Lem In MASKA
Two of the most distinctive voices in the world of animation tackling one of the most distinctive voices in science fiction? What's not to like? Well, the fact that it's only a short instead of a feature, for one, but that's about it.

The Brothers Quay unleashed their latest creation - Maska, based upon work by Solaris author Stanislaw Lem - in 2010 with minimal fanfare but a trailer has now arrived which should draw more attention with it's typical gorgeous art direction and classical stop motion animation.

"Maska" ("Mask") is the latest animated film of Quay brothers, directors and puppet animators, with the music composed by Krzysztof Penderecki. The screenplay is the adaptation of StanisÅ‚aw Lem's novel of the same title. The action of "Maska" is set in a technologically developed but, at the same time, feudal world. Beautiful Duenna was created in order to carry out certain mission. However, she will be forced to choose between accomplishing the task she was created for and love.
