Neo-Giallo AMER Hitting BluRay In The UK
Our love for Bruno Forzani and Helene Cattet's Amer is well documented in these pages, the duo's love letter to classic giallo film being - in my opinion - the great discovery of Sitges 2009.

And I would hazard to say that even those who don't connect with the film's abstract, experimental style would have to agree that the film itself is flat-out gorgeous, which makes it a prime candidate for the high definition treatment. Which it's getting. Anchor Bay UK are releasing Amer on BluRay on January 7th. This one is a 'must' purchase in my book.

WTF did they do with my cover!
Guess there was too much nudity for the UK but common it's not a flattering shot of the actress. Arrgg!

How did I miss this? Hitting pre-order now with great haste...

I met Bruno Forzani and Helene Cattet in Amsterdam during the Imagine festival last April and they are cool people who ooze love of cinema. "Amer" plays like a list of best sequences from Bava and Argento movies set on re-used Giallo music (rights officially paid for and everything), and while it may make for a muddled narrative it is a veritable feast for the senses.
