MPAA Overturns NC-17 Rating On BLUE VALENTINE
It took 'em a while but they got it right in the end.

A little while back the MPAA made the baffling decision to hit acclaimed indie drama Blue Valentine with an NC-17 rating, a move that came in the midst of a string of baffling MPAA decisions. It was a major blow to the film - a film which has major awards hopes pinned on strong performances from Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams - and one which hit hard enough that Harvey Weinstein visited the MPAA turned up at the appeal hearing today to argue his case in person. And Harvey won.

The original NC-17 rating has been overturned and replaced with a much more sensible R. All the hubbub might even convince a few people to actually go see it.
