First Look At Mortensen And Fassbender As Freud And Jung In Cronenberg's A DANGEROUS METHOD
Well, now. Any film smart enough to cast Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender as its leads is a film with fantastic taste regardless of any other factors but take a look at the photo above to get a glimpse of just how good the casting of the duo in Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method really was. Initially announced as The Talking Cure, the new film is Cronenberg's psycho-sexual drama based on the play by Christopher Hampton with Mortensen cast as Sigmund Freud and Fassbender as Carl Jung and both bearing a startling similarity to the men they are playing. Here's the official synopsis:
On the eve of WWI, Zurich and Vienna are the setting for a dark tale of sexual and intellectual discovery. Drawn from true-life events, the film takes a glimpse into the turbulent relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), his mentor Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen), and Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), the troubled but beautiful young woman who comes between them. Into the mix comes Otto Gross (Vincent Cassel), a debauched patient who is determined to push the boundaries. In this exploration of sensuality, ambition and deceit set the scene for the pivotal moment when Jung, Freud and Sabina come together and split apart, forever changing the face of modern thought.
