It's The Voice Of Ewan McGregor Versus Puppet Nazis In The JACKBOOTS ON WHITEHALL Trailer!
I would like to begin by stating clearly that when I refer to 'puppet Nazis' I do not refer to Nazi collaborators who simply bend to the will of their distant overlords. Those are Nazi puppets. No, I mean puppets - actual, literal puppets - who are Nazis. And in the case of the McHenry Brothers' Jackboots On Whitehall, those evil puppet Nazis have successfully invaded Britain and it is up to a small band of farmers to save the day.

With a voice cast that includes Ewan McGregor in the lead and the likes of Alan Cumming, Timothy Spall, Richard E Grant and Tom Wilkinson in the support parts and some truly stellar work on the technical end and all of that combined to a truly daft premise, this could easily be a cult hit in the making. The folks at the Edinburgh International Film Festival are certainly hoping so as they've just announced that they'll be hosting the film's world premiere. Here's the official synopsis:

From the McHenry Brothers comes a satirical version of World War II in which the Scottish defeat the German invasion of England. Chris (Ewan McGregor) dreams of the chance to join the army and fight in exciting new lands rather than be stuck in the slow paced village life he has grown up in. His chance comes when the three top Nazis hatch a plan to invade England by drilling under the English Channel and into the heart of London. With the entire British army stuck in Dunkirk and no military suppoter to defend the country, Churchill issues a final radio broadcast from his bunker in Downing Street - a cry for help. But can the nation unite in time to make one last stand against the Nazi forces? JACKBOOTS ON WHITEHALL boasts pioneering techniques in animation, fusing innovative puppeteering animatronics developed by Rory McHenry and VFX by MFX London.
The official trailer just arrived on Hulu, which is great for those in the US but for us here in Canada and parts beyond that does no good at all. And so, for all the rest of the world - and the Americans, too, we're not picky - ScreenAnarchy is proud to present the premiere of the first official trailer. Check it below.
