Bekmambetov's BLACK LIGHTNING Going International
Black Lightning - the Russian flying car adventure film produced by Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov and directed by a pair of his key assistants - is about to go international.

Word broke today on a pair of new Black Lightning projects, one an English language remake backed by Universal and the other a sequel to the original film that will apparently take on an international flavor itself with the action moving to China with Bill Kong - the producer of Crouching Tiger, Hero, House of Flying Daggers and many, many more - coming on as a producer.

The original film - about to have its North American premiere at Fantasia - is a slick, glossy adventure that is essentially Russia's home grown answer to the American superhero film and I expect more of the same from these.
