...and no, it's not that the overgrown squid will emerge from your screens, Sadako style. It'll just become a videogame, released alongside the film (that's not too common, is it?).
We showed the first CG test from Macrograph a few months back, which remains the only bit of info we have on the sequel to Bong Joon-Ho's 괴물 (The Host)
- other than the fact that the CG will be done in-house. But today two details have been announced: one, the rather predictable tentative plans for a 2011 release, the other, Cheongeoram Films' announcement that they signed a contract with game developers Queens Soft
, the makers of current online SF FPS Another Day
. 20% of the development costs ($2 million) will be funded by Singapore, which is also funding the film ($5 million) through Kelvin Tong's Boku Films.
This The Host 2
videogame will be a multi-platform FPS project (including mobile, console and PC) with mutant humanoids graced with superhuman skills. As for the film, the script is still in progress, and an announcement regarding director and cast will be made by the end of the year.
Ohh... another bit of concept art in the Gallery as well.
