Aamir Khan Making HANUMAN Into A Superhero ...
I know it's not quite the same thing but can you imagine for a moment what would happen if someone were to put Jesus Christ into a cape and tights and try to turn him into a big screen superhero?  I'd actually pay to see that movie but the uproar would be enormous ...

The point?  Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is reportedly on the verge of signing on to star in a huge budget Bolly-Holly co-production in which he would play the Hindu god Hanuman.  Only thing is in this version Hanuman will not be a god but a superhero, Keanu Reeves would be Rama and Gary Oldmen the villainous Ravanas.  Eraser director Chuck Russell is slated to direct.

Proving once again that Bollywood is a very odd place where very strange things happen, I'm not making this up.  It's a real film.

We should come up with a new genre for such. Especially when you have a potential headline that reads "Superstar maketh God a Superhuman"

Hanumān does admittedly do more stereotypically superhero-y things – lifting up and moving mountains and such like – rather than Jesu's good ol' food multiplying routine (though the water-walking, on the other hand, could arguably belong to the former category).

And more importantly, another Rāmāyaṇa adaptation gives me an excuse to forward this to more people:

Satanic Verses?

"Satanic Verses" wrong religion mate, we're talking Hinduism here, I think I'm right in saying Buddhism is similar to Hinduism, don't go tarring half the world with the same Fox News wide mile brush.
Anyway, it's no surprise that western directors are being approached by Bollywood to add a Hollywood sheen. There have been some pretty good Bollywood movies of late that would appeal to a western audience, Page 3, and of course Slumdog Millionaire ( I know British Movie shot in India ) opened the west to Bollywood.
I'm no expert, just a westerner married to a Hindu who's seen far too many 3hr Bollywood epics over the last decade, ( and yes I did have a Hindu wedding) !!

Hmm... I don't think we are exactly on the same page here bewarethemoon.
I was referring to a novel titled: "The Satanic Verses". One of the main characters stars in bollywood films where he plays as Hindu gods.
