Sadly Predictible: John Woo's 1949 Cancelled.

I wish I were surprised by this news, but I'm not. In recent years Hong Kong action auteur John Woo has become better known for announcing films that never get made than for actual making movies - the tally of non-starter projects between Paycheck and Red Cliff was staggering - and the trend continues. Word is out that Woo's post-war drama 1949 - widely announced as his next film and already deep into the casting and pre-production process - has been cancelled over script rights issues. No more talking about movies unless you're actually going to make them, John ...

Aww. :( I guess he could helm that film sequel to Stranglehold, which was a videogame sequel to Hard Boiled... *sigh*

@ cpa314
what kind of movie could it be?

Very sad the project was canceled. It could have been a mixture of bullet in the head and The assambly.
Don't undestand why John doesn't get his movies made after the success of Red Cliff?
