UK Trailer for BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE

Over at 24fps is an exclusive look at the UK trailer for the live action adaption of Blood: The Last Vampire. Compare to the Japanese teaser, this is loaded with more scenes of ass kickery as the fearless vampire hunter Sawa, played by Jeon Ji Hyun (english screen name: Gianna Jun), unleash her sword and start taking names against a horde of blood suckers like there is no tomorrow. Bring on the action!

On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400 year-old halfling. Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts.

When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhuman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the bases general that Saya learns her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection.

For readers in the UK, you'll be glad to know that Blood: The Last Vampire has been confirmed as the opening night film of the SciFi London Film Festival, where it will hit the screen on April 29th. Check out the trailer below the break.

Looks great. Even the fact they speak English is a pass.

mistereshMarch 7, 2009 8:33 AM

Mediocre at best. The special effects already ruin it.

SwarezMarch 7, 2009 8:45 AM

Yeah stupid filmmakers using special effects when making vampire fantasy films.

But seriously, this looks much better than I thought and I didn't really think anything of this film.

PapigiulioMarch 7, 2009 8:50 AM

Lol @ Swarez!! nuff said. Looks great yeah, I love it that they kept the same style as the anime. Looking forward to this one ;)

tinmannMarch 7, 2009 9:31 AM

I am looking forward to this one.

AlephMarch 7, 2009 2:18 PM

As long as its more standalone anime movie and less the shitty series

conbarbaMarch 7, 2009 7:17 PM

well, better than expected.

What does my head in, as soon as the chinese lay there hand's on movies of this genre, there has to be "flying" involved. I read the manga, have seen the original anime..no flying to be noticed. But it seems, that the success of Tiger & Dragon in 2000 rolled out a groundroll for chinese cinematic. Well but to be fair, it looks quiet nice, and if they put the "flying" in logical context for a change, it may even be quit good ;)

Looks very entertaining

methosbMarch 7, 2009 11:00 PM

Looks meh, but Jeon Ji Hyun is the amazingly beatiful so I shall watch ;)

CuttermaranMarch 8, 2009 12:42 AM

Does Jeon have a white sidekick besides her? They don't trust asians solo performers, heh?

Al YoungMarch 8, 2009 5:52 AM

Maybe not a sidekick but more like a damsel in distress. In the original OVA, it was a overweight nurse who needed protection from Sawa rather than a girl. My main beef with the original is it was too short so I don't mind seeing the introduction of Koyuki's character Onigen. It may give us more backstory behind Sawa.

I don't mind the use of wire-work either if its utilized properly and reflects the superhuman abilities of a vampire. The action choreographer is Corey Yuen BTW.

BtoFuMarch 8, 2009 7:03 AM

Of course they don't trust asians to solo a north american feature film lol. Honestly the teaser was enough for me, the more they show the less promising it becomes.

Andrew MackMarch 8, 2009 7:07 PM

Corey Yuen!?! Thanks for ruining my day. I expect nothing more than run of the mill action choreography then. Ugh. Have never seen anything original or impressive in his choreography. Blah. His credit for this film on IMDB is the veeeeeeeery last one on the list. Ha ha.
