Dutch public television broadcasts porn classic "DEEP THROAT" today

Hard to believe, but it's the truth: for the first time a Dutch public channel shows a hardcore porn movie.
Tonight channel 3 shows "Deep Throat" .

Uncut.
No decoder.
No pay-per-view.
Free for all.
Acquired with a Dutch government grant, so it's paid with tax money.
Shown in conjunction with a liberal Christian tv-organization.
And triggering a hell of a debate in the Dutch media.

The late evening of Saturday the 23rd, public channel 3 will be entirely dedicated to discussions surrounding pornography. First, BNN will broadcast a discussion program about porn.
Then the (very) liberal-minded Christian VPRO will take over on the same channel and show the documentary "Inside Deep Throat".

And then at 10 past midnight BNN is back again, and will indeed broadcast the classic itself.
For US viewers: note that due to the time difference this will be Saturday afternoon.

Needless to say sparks are already flying in the Dutch political and media arenas.
The three Dutch public television channels are government controlled, and time on these is allotted to a large number of big and small media organizations, each of which is largely dependent on government sponsoring.
A lot of people are now discussing the ethical and moral aspects of showing porn on television, and also angrily debating if this is how the government should spend its tax euros.

The broadcasting organizations who are responsible for this, BNN and VPRO, are both no strangers to controversy. VPRO was the first to show full frontal nudity on television back in the early seventies, and BNN got to be world famous last year by faking a reality show in which a terminally ill cancer patient was supposedly choosing which candidate should get her kidneys.
