Yamazaki Takashi's "Always Zoku: San Cho Me No Yuhi" was number one once again at the Japanese box office this past weekend while Imai Natsuki's "seishun" (youth) romance drama "Koizora" (Twitch review here) still held strong in second place. A couple of new films debuted this week including Robert Zemeckis' CGI spectacle "Beowulf" and Morita Yoshimitsu's "Tsubaki Sanjuro", a remake of Kurosawa Akira's classic "Sanjuro" starring Oda Yuji, Fujita Makoto and Toyokawa Etsushi.

Movies making their road-show debut in Japan in the coming weeks Fukasaku Kenta's latest horror movie "XX: Makyo Densetsu" (X-Cross: Legend of the Demon World; 12/1) with Ikeuchi Hiroyuki and Iwane Ayuko, David Silverman's "The Simpsons Movie" (12/15), Yong-hwa Kim's touching comedy "200 Pounds Beauty" (in Japan - "Kana San Daiseiko Desu!/You Made It, Kana"; 12/15) and Sam Garbarski's Belgium drama "Irina Palm" (in Japan - "Yawarakai Te/Soft Hands"; 12/8)
