Yau Nai-Hoi's Eye in the Sky Coming To DVD!

Yau Nai-Hoi is best known as Johnny To's regular script writer and he takes the step into the director's chair himself for Eye in the Sky, a taut cop thriller pitting Simon Yam against (big) Tony Leung. I caught this at the HK Filmart and it's just solid on every level, very well shot, very well performed, and with an interesting spin on the whole cop chase genre -- playing things out as an elaborate cat and mouse game between the crime syndicate and the police surveillance unit whose sole job is to track, not to capture. The film hits DVD August fourth in two varieties -- standard and special edition -- and while it's not up on the North American branch of YesAsia yet, you international folk can order it up now.
