I sure hope this won't suck as hard as every other Barker based movie of the past 10 years.

You mean Kitamura? He's been on about how he will end up being a bigshot Hollywood director since he first made an impression in the West. The majority of his flicks are like applications to Hollywood studios, screaming how he'd be perfect to direct slick, vapid, disposable action fodder for the American masses. That he now makes his US debut with what would ideally be an atmospheric horror movie without any swords or techno on the soundtrack is a bit surprising and while it worries me I guess it makes the project more interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if Kitamura becomes a Jerry Bruckheimer regular in the years to come rather than a horror director.
